  • What is an ArtChicks Creative Escape?
    If you have never attended a crafting or scrapbook event before, you are in for the time of your life! Our Creative Escapes offer you the perfect opportunity to work on your crafting projects AND have a lot of fun. What could be better than spending time with your gal pals, meeting new people, sharing some laughs and enjoying creative time that’s just for you? One-Day Escapes will be held at Hyatt Place Malta, New York conveniently located off Exit 12 of I-87 Northway. They will run from 9 am until 6 pm to give you plenty of time to work on your projects. One-day events will feature lunch for an additional cost, if desired, and the opportunity to sign up for exciting classes. Our Weekend Escapes give you three days of crafting fun! You can spend your time as you see fit...craft away the days, enjoy a nap, grab a snack, get a massage, do a little shopping, join a class to expand your art horizons and more!
  • What Should I Bring?
    All the crafting supplies to create your projects: • Papers, Cardstock • Adhesives • Scissors, Cutting Tools • Stickers, Embellishments • Photos • Albums, Journals • Pens, Markers, Pencils • Die Cutting Machine, Punches • Paints, Yarn, Fabric • Power Strip, Extension Cord • Craft Light if you feel you might need additional lighting • Small tabletop bin for trash/paper scraps • Seat cushion- Even padded chairs get uncomfortable after several hours • Comfortable clothing- Dress in layers as room temperatures often fluctuate and everyone has a different internal “thermostat”
  • Will I need to clear my workspace each night?
    No! You may leave all of your supplies at your workspace. Please note: ArtChicks and the venue are not responsible for any items lost or stolen. Craft room will be open 7:30AM until 3:00AM.
  • Classes
    A variety of classes will be offered from top-notch artists and instructors with a wide variety of expertise in different mediums. Class descriptions, sample photos, a schedule and class fees will be posted prior to each event. Limited seating will be available and attendees will register online to reserve their spot.
  • Shopping
    Select vendors will offer product for sale during set hours of the weekend events.
  • Special Needs
    If you have any allergies, dietary restrictions or physical limitations that require special accommodations, please notify us upon registration for the event. This will give us ample opportunity to make arrangements to meet your needs.
  • Payment & Cancellation Policy
    One-Day Creative Escapes Payment for one-day events must be paid at time of registration. Payment via Credit Card will be accepted. If you'd like to pay via Venmo, please email us at artchicksny@gmail.com. Cancellations must be received in writing via email at artchicksny@gmail.com seven (7) days prior to the event. If we can fill your spot, you will receive a full refund. Weekend Creative Escapes A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. Payment is due per the dates noted on the event registration form. Cancellations for weekend retreats must be received in writing at artchicksny@gmail.com at least fourteen (14) days prior to the event date. If you have already paid for the event in full, it will be refunded in the form of original payment minus your non-refundable deposit. If you have paid in full and cancel after (14) days prior to event, payment will not be refunded. If we are able to fill your spot, then we will hold your payment for a future ArtChicks event minus the non-refundable deposit. ArtChicks understands that emergencies arise that are sometimes out of your control, and we will handle emergent situations on an individual basis. ArtChicks reserves the right to cancel any scheduled event and will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by registered attendees such as airfare, travel, hotel or other expenses. Should a retreat be cancelled by ArtChicks, all fees paid by attendee will be refunded including deposit. Monies will be refunded in the form of the original payment. Cancellations due to inclement weather will be at the discretion of ArtChicks. Retreats will take place unless a State of Emergency is called. The decision to cancel an event will be announced at least 24 hours prior to the start of the event. If bad weather is predicted, attendees are asked to plan accordingly. Refunds will not be given for no-shows if the event is held, as the meeting space and all other expenses have been paid for in advance.
  • What Is The Scrapyard?
    The Scrapyard is the place where supplies are given a new life and your trash becomes someone else's treasure. Share your unwanted crafting items in The Scrapyard for others to take, use and enjoy. You may discover a treasure yourself!
